…that day back in 1981 when Charles and Diana got married.
Of course the news today that William and Kate are engaged to be married is absolutely, wonderfully delightful and I for one am thrilled to bits!!! A Royal wedding in 2011! Hooray!!! So very exciting. And how fortunate that I am living in London and will be able to experience the event. You can be absolutely sure that I will be camped out on The Mall to ensure that I get a bird’s eye-view of the proceedings!! The thought that I will be standing in front of Buckingham Palace on their wedding day and get to see them step out onto the balcony is beyond belief.
I remember so clearly the day that Charles and Diana got married – I was living in Johannesburg at the time, in an area called Hillbrow; our apartment building was situated on top of the hill (ergo the name Hillbrow). My daughter was just on 11 months old then and I recall that on the day of their wedding I was sitting on a swing in the gardens of the apartments, my daughter on my lap with the sun shining down as we looked out over the city of Johannesburg. As we sat there, gently swaying back and forth, the wedding was taking place here in London…and never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect that one day I would be living in London and in a position to experience the wedding of their first baby, a baby who at that stage was still a twinkle in his daddy’s eye…..
and 29 years on hooray!!! we have a Royal wedding on the calendar for 2011.
Congratulations to William and Kate, may their union be blessed and filled with joy and happiness.
I really hope Prince William’s marriage will be wayyyy happier than his parents’. It really made me sad, all the story about Lady Di 😦
all the best for the bride-and-groom to be! 🙂
Hello Tyka. thanks for your comment. Yes so do I. perhaps they are marrying for the right reasons. we know from history now that Charles was not engaged in the marriage, so it was doomed to fail. and poor Diana got hounded. still makes me sad. so now we have a new Royal Wedding to look forward to! 🙂
