One of the benefits and downfalls of being hooked up to the matrix is that you know where you’ve been, but ‘they‘ know where you are at all times, especially if you have your gps switched on, on your ever so ‘smart’ phone. Or have the various walking apps like mapmywalk turned on.πΆπ»ββοΈπΆπ»ββοΈπΆπ»ββοΈπ―
Personally I think our phones have been sneakily hooked up to all those big brother cameras dotted around every street corner, in every city, town and village….its creepy.
Its also quite useful for when your memory starts fading and you think “where was I?” Imagine how useful it would be if you’re one day considered to be a suspect of ‘foul play’!! If the arresting officer asks you “where were you at 1.30pm on Saturday 13th December 10 years ago. Wtaf!! They actually expect me to remember π€π€π€ But, if you had Google you could protest your innocence and say “Uh uh, Officer, I wasn’t there….here look at mapmywalk, that’ll tell you exactly where I was”. Of course that wouldn’t be useful if in fact you did commit a foul deed, and were as guilty as sin!!! ππππ€ then you’d want to lose that app pdq π€ͺπ€ͺ
But, be that as it may, one of the benefits is that from time to time Google photos sends me a notification to remind me of where I was either 2 years ago or three!! A bit like Facebook memories, which I don’t use. I’m not a fan of Facebook π€«π€«π€«
So anywayyyy, yesterday I got a pop up to say “this is where you were”

How cool is that!!
Seems I walk this route quite frequently ππ Lucky me, it is a gorgeous section of the English coast.
Wow, that view is stunning! You are very lucky to enjoy such beautiful views of the sea during your walks. I am in Hungary, and we are landlocked so this makes me really, really jealous.
Awww. Yeah, I am lucky to live in such a beautiful area. At the moment I’m also landlocked (last 4 weeks) for work. But I go home on the 8th and I’m really looking forward to walking along the beaches again.
How are you getting on with your Conqueror challenge?
I tried to leave a comment on your blog a few days ago but it wouldn’t post. I love the sewing that you’ve been doing…looks amazing.
It’s always beautiful walkways when it’s next to the sea – splendid views guaranteed!
Yeah, you won’t find us on Facebook either …the thought of “Big Brother is watching you” – that is a little bit scary (I always have a notebook and pen nearby … so if the police officer is asking me where I’ve been on a specific time, he’ll have to give me a day in order for me to dig up all my journals from a huge box somewhere in our garage π
ππππ so you’re well prepared in case π¨ββοΈπ©ββοΈ
Yeah, Facebook. Scary place.
You must have some amazing seascapes in your vicinity too. My two favourite places to walk are alongside a river and alongside the sea.
I’m ready for the police … but I’m a good citizen, hopefully that won’t ever be necessary π .
Yes, we have the beautiful Langebaan lagoon a few steps from our house and the big Atlantic Coast is just a short drive away … but unfortunately (due to Covid regulations) we are not allowed to walk on (or even close) to the beach … it’s sad, because that was my favourite place to take a walk early in the morning … π … hopefully soon again.
Oh gosh really!!! You’re not allowed on the beach π±π± wow. That would drive me nuts. Thankfully we have been allowed to walk on our beaches right through lockdown. As long as we don’t sit, gather with others or have picnics etc. But in summer we had a lot of really stupid people gathering for beach parties etc. Thankfully where I live out beaches are usually quite deserted except for the August Bank holidays and big annual events, which are not happening now anyway. I cherish my time on the beach.
Oh and stay out of mischief πππ¨ββοΈπ©ββοΈ
π … that’s me
yeah..the good & bad of gps…wonderful photos..i am sort of landlocked i guess here but looking forward to the beach this summer ( fingers crossed for no more restrictions).
Hmmm. I believe that unless we have no phone, we are tracked wherever we go. Google often sends me notifications to do a review on a place when I’ve only walked past or been in the vicinity. Its really irksome.
Fingers crossed indeed….
